Indications
Approved for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis.
How it works
Quickly lowers inflammation (swelling) and induces remission.
Drug interactions
Aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen. Some medications may need dose adjustments, such as anticoagulants, antifungals, and diabetes medications.

Serum glucose, electrolytes, blood pressure, weight, presence of infection, bone density.

Changes in appetite, nausea, upset stomach or vomiting, changes in mood. Cushingoid features (weight gain or puffy face), psychiatric disorders, blurred vision, and menstrual disorders.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to budesonide or any ingredient in the formulation.
